Red Gate Farms

Spring is officially here and slowly breathing life back into the vibrant azaleas and enchanting Spanish moss-covered oaks. With the warmer weather, clear skies and picturesque views, one thing is certain — wedding season will soon be in full swing! Although we can still expect to see face masks and sanitizing stations for a while longer, we’re looking forward to a few new spring wedding trends that will have us swooning.

Colorful Palettes

After a dreary year of lockdowns and social distancing, many couples are counteracting the recent restrictions with beautiful spring colors and romantic, seasonal blooms. Although some couples will still opt for the classic creams and neutrals, one spring wedding trend we’re noticing is colorful suits and bold, statement bridal fashion pieces. These bright pops of color are sure to liven up any springtime celebration!

Shop Local

Now more than ever, small businesses are in need of support and that’s exactly what couples are planning to do this spring. By working with suppliers who are close to home and incorporating locally sourced goods into everything from décor and favors to florals and food, wedding guests can expect to discover some of the best of what Savannah has to offer this time of year, including fresh, local produce, artisanal honeys and jams, and decadent desserts. Many couples may also choose to feature local brews and spirits into their signature springtime cocktails, which adds a fun local “spin” on the traditional open bar. Additionally, handcrafted keepsakes, such as invitations, cake toppers, and place cards will also be a popular trend for couples this spring.

Going Green

Along with supporting local businesses, brides and grooms are also finding ways to have a more eco-friendly big day. By eliminating single-use items, utilizing recyclable or alternative materials for invitations, menus and programs, sourcing local and seasonal florals and cuisine, and using more sustainable wedding décor, couples are creating dreamy eco-conscious celebrations and reducing the impact of their event on the environment.

Focus on Florals

Many couples are getting inspired by the season and transforming their space into enchanting English gardens featuring floral chandeliers, canopies and classic outdoor lounge seating. By incorporating flowers into invitations, ceremony décor, desserts, place settings, and even signature cocktails, wedding venues will be bursting with beautiful blooms this spring. Favors are also taking on a floral focus, as couples gift their guests with potted plants and succulents in lieu of  traditional mementos.

An Intimate Affair

Although large-scale wedding gatherings are perfect for some couples,  many are choosing quality over quantity by scaling back on the size of their big day. Smaller, more intimate gatherings not only create a more relaxed and personal setting, but also offer a shorter guest list, which means brides and grooms may splurge on other extravagant details, like over-the-top florals, unforgettable experiences, multi-course meals, and elaborate, personalized place settings.

Staying Connected

It’s important for couples to share their special day with loved ones, and when circumstances prevent guests from attending in person, live-streaming video can bring everyone together — no matter the miles. Technology will continue to play a large role in the pre-wedding celebrations as well. Virtual soirées, such as bridal showers and bachelor/bachelorette parties, offer a safe and inclusive way for everyone to celebrate together, near and far.
